Luke Hardy’s latest body of work takes us into the Land of Smiles and the garishly lit world of the karaoke lounge... around closing time.

You’ve chosen your song, the sound system is set to “echo”and it’s your turn to sing. You pour your heart out through somebody else’s words, but anyone left to hear you is wasted... and the longer you stay the more you are too.

These images, like much of Hardy’s recent work, explore the threshold between the real and imagined self. They are laden with aspiration and longing... heartfelt, universal and trite. A trippy mix of fake brands, banal lyrics and braced teeth
